Asbestos Survey
Do you require an Asbestos survey?
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) can present a hazard to your health if they are not identified and appropriately managed. Damage to ACMs can lead to Asbestos fibres becoming airborne and being inhaled, potentially causing Asbestos related diseases within the lungs and respiratory system.
If you are concerned that Asbestos may be present where you live or where you work, then the first step to managing a potential Asbestos risk is to have Asbestos testing or an Asbestos survey completed.
To understand whether there may be an Asbestos risk at your property or workplace, reach out to Anthesis Consulting Middle East Asbestos Management Services now by clicking the button below and getting in contact with us. Alternatively fill out the form at the bottom of the contact page and one of our qualified and experienced Asbestos consultants will get in touch with you.
How to Identify Asbestos and What is an Asbestos survey?
Asbestos surveys are an effective way to assist you in managing Asbestos risk within your premises by providing specific information about the location, amount and type of any Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) that are present. To proactively manage Asbestos within existing buildings, or to ensure that it is not disturbed during refurbishment or demolition it is recommended that you arrange a survey if you suspect there are ACMs in your premises. The undertaking of an Asbestos surveys in non-domestic properties is a legal requirement in parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), specifically Abu Dhabi, whilst other legal requirements apply in Dubai and other Emirates.
The cost of an Asbestos survey varies based upon a number of factors such as:
Building and site size;
Site location;
Complexity and type of the structures to be assessed;
Number of samples needed to be collected and analysed; and
Type of Asbestos survey to be conducted (Management/Pre-refurbishment/Demolition survey)
Types of Asbestos survey
We are able to provide the following services:
Asbestos Management Surveys (Type 2 Asbestos Survey);
Pre Refurbishment/Demolition Asbestos Surveys (Type 3 Asbestos Survey);
Bulk Sampling and Asbestos Testing; and
Asbestos Analysis Services; and
Asbestos Management Plans (AMPs).
All of our Asbestos management staff hold internationally recognised qualifications (British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) certified) to undertake bulk Asbestos sampling. We have the competency to provide a full range of identification surveys, and the experience to provide Asbestos investigations, surveys and solutions for all manner of structures within the built environment.
All sampling procedures and surveys are carried out in line with international standards. Anthesis can provide suitably qualified Asbestos consultants that are competent to undertake a range of Asbestos surveys that would consist of a combination of visual inspections of the existing structures and the employment of bulk sampling strategies. We have experience with a whole range of structures including residential, commercial, healthcare, governmental, industrial buildings and offshore platforms.
The ACM survey can help to provide enough information so that an Asbestos register, a risk assessment and an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) can then be created.
The survey will usually involve a visual inspection of all accessible areas, sampling and analysis of bulk samples to determine the presence of Asbestos so ACM surveys should only be carried out by experienced, competent surveyors who can clearly demonstrate they have the necessary skills and qualifications to conduct the work.
An Asbestos management survey (formerly known as Type 2 Asbestos survey) will identify all ACMs located within a property that could be damaged or disturbed during general ongoing maintenance works.
A Pre-refurbishment / Pre-Demolition Asbestos survey (formerly known as Type 3 Asbestos survey) is more intrusive in nature and aims to identify all ACMs within the property or site that could potentially be damaged or disturbed during refurbishment or demolition works.
Asbestos fibers can be found in many types of materials and constructions, and through Asbestos assessments and Asbestos analysis they can be identified and managed using Asbestos control measures. Common Asbestos materials include:
Asbestos insulation
Asbestos sheeting
Asbestos ceiling board / Asbestos wall board
Asbestos pipe / Asbestos cement pipe
Asbestos gasket
